We are delighted to share with you that we will once again be participating in this 90th edition of MIDA, featuring three days of hands-on demonstrations and educational activities on craftsmanship in the Ghiaie Pavilion with CNA
Florence.
On this unique occasion, you can ask us all your questions about artisan eyewear, why we focus on natural materials, and how these materials embody comfort and lightness, as well as reflect an important philosophy about what we wear and how it is made. We’ll discuss best practices for our future.
We love craftsmanship, and being able to share it with you in person is a great source of pride for us.

We met in Florence during her visit to the Rothko exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi.
While she was visiting the exhibition, she came to the studio several times to choose a new pair of glasses and asked for them to be made of wood.
K. recently moved from the United States to Italy, to the Garfagnana region, where she has a house surrounded by a large forest.
She told me that she spends much of her time there in that forest, as she is working on a new art project.
Her connection with the trees and the natural environment stirred in me a deep sense of emotion, curiosity about her work, and respect for her great sensitivity.
I was so happy to gently guide her through her choice that I saw this journey almost as if it were itself the beginning of that creative process that is currently enveloping her professionally.
Getting to know the stories behind the people you meet is wonderful. In the act of listening and sharing stories, a strong synergy sometimes emerges—a delicate and intimate connection that makes you think the process of designing a unique piece, like a pair of bespoke glasses, can be pure magic, just like creating a work of art.

5 COURSES IN ATELIER
/in Bottega atelier Shop, Courses/by WooClassAdminIn our workshop, we design and craft handmade, tailor-made frames in Florence, using only natural materials such as wood and buffalo horn.
Recently, we have specialised in bespoke, tailor-made eyewear for private customers.
We also offer specific courses for individuals or very small groups (2-3 people max at a time) dedicated to those who want to learn or deepen their knowledge of
the art of eyewear: from design to manual processing.
Jochen is the tutor and teacher, and the modules can vary in duration and disciplines explored, depending on the student’s level of knowledge.
The courses available are dedicated to:
1) individual users who, even if only for an introductory experience with the craft, wish to create their own eyeglass frames
2) young designers or aspiring designers who wish to deepen their knowledge of fashion accessory design with a focus on eyewear, bespoke eyewear and sustainable design
3) opticians and optometrists who wish to offer an added value to the services provided in their stores (consultancy or eyewear design).
The courses can be continued by subsequently accessing second-level learning modules dedicated to laboratory application, where students can try their hand at manual work.
