5 COURSES IN ATELIER

In our workshop, we design and craft handmade, tailor-made frames in Florence, using only natural materials such as wood and buffalo horn.
Recently, we have specialised in bespoke, tailor-made eyewear for private customers.

We also offer specific courses for individuals or very small groups (2-3 people max at a time) dedicated to those who want to learn or deepen their knowledge of
the art of eyewear: from design to manual processing.

Jochen is the tutor and teacher, and the modules can vary in duration and disciplines explored, depending on the student’s level of knowledge.
The courses available are dedicated to:

1) individual users who, even if only for an introductory experience with the craft, wish to create their own eyeglass frames

2) young designers or aspiring designers who wish to deepen their knowledge of fashion accessory design with a focus on eyewear, bespoke eyewear and sustainable design

3) opticians and optometrists who wish to offer an added value to the services provided in their stores (consultancy or eyewear design).

The courses can be continued by subsequently accessing second-level learning modules dedicated to laboratory application, where students can try their hand at manual work.

TRAINING COURSES FOR OPTICIANS

TRAINING COURSES FOR OPTICIANS

We hadn’t yet taken the time to talk about this path we have been pursuing in recent years, which is that of teaching.
The last few years have seen us involved in many new experiences, in addition to our daily work.
One of these recent experiences that has been dear to us was working with some students who came to us in Florence to study eyewear design.
Among these, we must mention our last two students, who spent six months each with us at Bottega Atelier Woo Class, attending personalised and individual courses.
The great thing about teaching is that, in addition to teaching, we also learn a lot from interacting with those who want to learn an art. For this, we are very grateful.
We would like to thank Fabiana, an optician from Naples, who surprised and thrilled us with her tenacity and resourcefulness in her constant and daily evolution in learning.
She reminded us of an important concept: commitment and, above all, GOALS are essential to going far.
We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to our dear Giorgio, an optician and optometrist from Valtellina who is also a world traveller with extraordinary sensitivity. He too reminded us that professionalism in optics does not stop at a diploma but must be a continuous SEARCH for deeper knowledge, and that the human side goes beyond any commercial goal. This aspect has had a profound impact on our way of interpreting our work.
As professional #opticians, they both felt the need to deepen their knowledge of eyewear construction and the details that make a medical device something more through our course. Because of the message it carries, the importance of its comfort, fit, materials and innovative design, this beloved object called EYEWEAR is a much more important tool than is commonly appreciated.
We wish you a special journey in designer eyewear!
